‘The Codex Borgia is one of the most beautiful and important of the few surviving pre-Columbian painted manuscripts. Eduard Georg Seler {1849 – 1922) was a prominent German anthropologist, ethnohistorian, linguist, epigrapher, academic and Americanist scholar, who made extensive contributions towards the study of pre-Columbian era cultures in the Americas.  His page-by-page iconographic analysis of the Codex Borgia, continues to be an essential tool in the study of Mesoamerican manuscripts. Seler’s interpretations of the  Codex Borgia focused primarily on divination and astronomy. Subsequent scholars have shown that the Codex Borgia also records historical, ritual, mythological, and most recently, botanical information’. 002713   $240
