The Magic Finger (originally named The Almost Ducks), is about a young girl who abhors hunting and uses her magic to turn a local hunting family into the ducks they shoot. “I can’t stand hunting. I just can’t stand it. It doesn’t seem right to me that men and boys should kill animals just for the fun they get out of it”. (The Girl). Dahl was an animal-lover: he owned dogs, cats, goats and even 200 budgerigars at one point. The Magic Finger is Dahl’s third book.  001431
