About Us at Backlane Books

BACK LANE BOOKS – hundreds of rare, collectible and just plain used books neatly organized and accessible, housed in a converted garage in the Back Lane between 18th and 19th St E North Vancouver.

Customers are delighted when they walk in to what is often viewed as a funky library.

I am an unapologetic bibliophile. I collected my first book at age 6 and haven’t stopped. I’ve combed second hand bookstores, markets and estate sales across Canada; some of my earlier finds came from visiting the most famous bookstores in the world including Foyle’s in London, Shakespeare and Co in Paris, City Light, San Francisco and Powell’s in Portland.

I strive to provide accurate and detailed descriptions of my books. I am happy to answer any further questions you may have and provide additional information.

Now, I have the joy of buying books directly from private collectors and estates. Still, when I travel, I always stop first (and last) wherever I may find old books.

Written appraisals available for special and estate collections: a reasonable fee may apply. Please phone ahead before bringing in books!
