Light foxing to blank page versus title and very light spots to title page. Annie Stuart King, Christmas 1878 in black elegant script to pastedown; contents otherwise appear unread and pages remain white, clean and tight. Boards are in near fine condition with rubbing to edges and a light fading to spine; gilt remains bright and is not rubbed. A lovely copy.
William Edmondstoune Aytoun (1813 1865) was a Scottish lawyer and poet. Published in 1849, Lays of the Scottish Cavaliers is a collection of Jacobite ballads and poetry and was very popular in its time. Titles include: Edinburgh after Flodden; The Heart of the Bruce, and The Island of the Scots.
