The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, formed in London in 1848, was Britain’s first modern art movement. They rebelled against the Royal Academy’s rigid teachings, advocating for vivid colors, intense realism, and a return to the detailed, nature-focused aesthetic of the 15th-century Italian art that predated Raphael.
