Half black leather over pebbled dark, aqua green, boards. Banded spine with gilt florets and title; top edge gilt. Contents have moderate toning; ghost mark to title page from facing portrait; a few small soil marks; six pages have light wave near top edge from small and very light stain. Binding is very tight; rubbing to board edges and along hinge line; 2cm split to leather at hinge near head of spine; light lean to spine. A rare, slightly smaller volume that was likely intended for ‘ladies;’ no other copies found. A charming early edition of this classic novel.
