Dr Hermann Karl William Kumm (1874-1930) was a missionary, explorer and big game hunter. Born in Prussia and later based in England, Kumm was a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. In 1904 he founded the Sudan United Mission where he continued as the leader and director until 1924; in 1925 he retired to California.
