These are reproductions of paintings which were specially commissioned for the Company’s calendar art beginning in 1912. The scenes depict events and people who were important to the history of the Hudson’s Bay Company. The original paintings are by well-known Canadian and British artists created between 1669 & 1942. The box set was produced in 1970 in a run of 10, 000 copies to celebrate the Company’s 300 years of history. Many of the portfolio prints were broken up and sold as individual prints on the secondary market and complete sets are becoming scarce.
