Vern Law was the star pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates which won the World Series in 1960 against the New York Yankees. Law was a member of the National League All Star Team in 1960; won the Cy Young Award, and tied for the National League in complete games that year. Despite pitching with a sprained ankle, he won 2 games in the 1960 World Series and left Game 7 with a 4-1 lead in the 6th inning.
